Trying to digitize an optical disc, such as a CD or #dvd ?
On #Linux you can use the dd command to create an ISO file/backup. But what if dd runs into I/O errors?
In such situations, the #opensource program #ddrescue comes to the rescue!
In our latest #tutorial we show how to use ddrescue - which, in many cases, is able to complete the task!

#Solar inverters run on software. And any software can contain bugs or introduce regressions after an update. This also seems to be the case with one of the recent firmware updates of #SolarEdge inverters.
Under certain conditions, the SolarEdge Home Battery (48V) discharge is limited to ~ 1.6KW. Normally the maximum discharge of the Home Battery is 5KW.
A fix for this regression is now available.

Want to use NordVPN on @Kodi ?
Officially, #NordVPN is not supported on the newest #Kodi release. But with help from the #OpenSource community, a generic #VPN Manager for Kodi can be used to successfully connect and use NordVPN on Kodi devices, such as #OSMC or #LibreElec.
And if you recently run into a NordVPN connection error on Kodi, we also have a fix for this!

When you want to test the performance of your Internet #connection, there are a couple of helpful tools available.
Online speed tests help give you an idea, but they depend on the browser, OS and maybe even a shaky WiFI connection - and could lead to false results.
A better way is to use #iperf on the network level. If you use an #OpenWRT router, you can even run the tests from and to the router.
Our latest article shows how.

Our latest #tutorial is a little bit different, compared to our usual OpenSource posts.
If you own a #SolarEdge inverter and use #ModbusTCP for your own monitoring or to grab #PV metrics (#HomeAssistant uses this, too), you might have run into some communication issues.
In our post we show how to manually restart the #Modbus service on a SolarEdge inverter.
