Though the fact that talos is similar to something like #flatcarLinux where it is also the OS.
Not installing like a base Debian or fedora install, keeping that all patched and doing the things.. it’s definitely appealing.
Now just to get qemu+ssh working in the libvirt provider and I should be golden.
I’ll need to get probably argo up and deploying charts, then I’ll get the other hardware in order. I haven’t used argo in years, so it’ll be nice to learn.

🌅 New day, new Flatcar releases!
Alpha 4515.0.0, Beta 4459.1.1, and Stable 4459.2.0 are out with Linux 6.12.54, cgroups v1 kernel config mitigations, and major security updates across the stack.

Okay, creating a custom unit that runs `systemctl enable podman.socket` after basic.target fixes it (I guess that supports my theory that it’s sysext-related). I’m wondering though if this is the best solution, or if I’m missing something obvious. #Flatcar #devops #homelab #selfhosting

Trying to migrate from Fedora CoreOS to #Flatcar, but having a hard time getting the Podman-related systemd units enabled in my Butane config. In FCOS, setting `enabled` to true was sufficient. The same doesn’t seem to work with Flatcar. qemu-guest-agent.service works though. So I’m wondering if the reason might be that Podman is a sysext and therefore not available early enough? #devops #homelab #selfhosting

Attending to @FrOSCon this year is a good opportunity to: learn about Flatcar and discuss your use-cases with some Flatcar's maintainers (at the Flatcar booth and/or during the social event). See you there!

They even use maintenance windows to stay up to date and automatically install new #Flatcar releases! Good stuff.

@flatcar This one's a biggie. We don't usually want people to check out Alphas (though all Alphas are thoroughly tested!) but this time it's different. New kernel, new sysexts, and many new features coming with this release.
Give it a spin!

Not a question, just love your support for @flatcar #Flatcar #Container #Linux on Brightbox.
Thank you!

Welcome #Flatcar project to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation! Just in time for #kubecon 😁
This is the first time the #CNCF has adopted an #operatingSystem distribution.
Now we've got a #Linux distro for #cloudnative #containerized workloads!

Flatcar is an immutable, auto-updating server OS, with automatic rollback to the prior version in the event that an update results in the system not being able to start up

Finally found the time to play around with #FlatcarLinux. Setup a bare metal node just with Docker, after that a single #k3s node (including auto updates). Nice!
But the base system just with Docker running seems to gobble up quite a lot of RAM (~700 MB) in comparison to my tiny ArchLinux based host. Needs some investigation, could be a show-stopper for my small #Homelab hosts. 🤔

Great to see the @OpenStack community embracing Flatcar and #ClusterAPI... in addition to the existing OpenStack CAPI provider, there's now a Magnum provider for all your container workloads. Nice! 👍
