#flashprog v1.5 is ready ⚡ grab the source and flash your #firmware!
This release supports the newest Intel and AMD chipsets. The latter, mostly read-only, alas. Plus a bunch of other changes, see the full release notes:
-
After making it into the @archlinux repository earlier this year, #flashprog found its way into #Debian unstable too now. 🥳 Many thanks to freswa and @sur5r for maintaining these packages!
It would be a nice surprise if we'd still make it into #Debian testing before the freeze tomorrow. Cross your fingers! 🤞

Another release is ready: #flashprog v1.4 waiting to be downloaded! 🥰
This release mostly brings support for new #flash chips, but also some more #SPI #EEPROM. Read more in the release notes:
-
@talpa don't know why that would be. It depends on the full command line and circumstances, though.
For instance, when #flashprog sees that the flash content is identical to the image to be written, it would skip both writing and verification. -

Flashprog v1.2 is dubbed Quadruped Tortoise 🎉
Our new release is ready for #firmware / #BIOS / #UEFI flashing: https://flashprog.org/wiki/Flashprog/v1.2
It finally brings the first bits of multi i/o and QPI support. Owners of a #Dediprog SF600 will definitely want to try this! 😉 There's also a new driver for #FTDI FT4222H.
After the release is before the release, and we are currently looking for testers of new chipset support: Any testing around Intel Meteor Lake or AMD Zen 4 and beyond is most welcome!

We're preparing for our next release to assist your #firmware, #BIOS, #UEFI hacking:
https://flashprog.org/wiki/Flashprog/v1.2
This one should be particularly interesting for developers: With multi i/o and #QPI support, #flash programming can be a lot faster now. There's a new driver for #FTDI FT4222H USB-to-SPI bridges -- probably our fastest supported programmer -- and #Dediprog SF600 users benefit as well.
Please grab the RC and test it :)

For developers working with JieLi microcontrollers, understanding the JL Forced Upgrade Tool 4.0's DIP switch is essential. This manual breakdown covers how to configure communication with a PC (Bit 7), set the default state of the DP/DM pins (Bit 5), and leverage the same pins for multiple protocols.
A versatile tool for development and production on the JieLi platform.

"while it's true i don't like u, don't feel special, i don't like most every birdy!" -- official motto of the hummingbirds
this is from my first photo workshop that i took in Peru, hummingbirds are great birds to learn on because they do not have any f's to give, they will fly right into your flash set up if it's anywhere near a food or a rival!!!

Anyone in @flashrom or @coreboot has any info on how to compile #flashrom using libpayload? Documentation has a TODO comment (https://github.com/flashrom/flashrom/blob/main/doc/dev_guide/building_from_source.rst#libpayload) and meson file does not have anything related... I am not versed on this but just a pointer may get me started...

This weekend’s projects:
1. Replace the PSU in the #Flashforge #Adventurer5M. The one it comes with has the fan going at all times, which is annoying. Meanwell makes a drop-in equivalent that… doesn’t. Unfortunately they tripled in price at some point.
2. Modify the Sunlu S2 dryer to hopefully be less noisy and not require the lid be propped open.
3. Install the #Microswiss Flowtech hotend on the #SovolSV08, if it shows up. The stock hotend is just ridiculous. A bunch of screws and thermal paste any time you want to change the nozzle? Might as well make me hot-tighten it, which I still have never done successfully. I’d rather have an E3D Revo solution rather than another standard but whatever. -
