Some people want to believe the far right is about hate. But I have maintained this not the case for a long time: The hate is only a tool, not the core.
Hate functions as an enabler of an ultra-strong group #identity. It is the wedge that pushes people into one unified hierarchy of violence under one leader.
The unity is the point, hate only carries the water.

  2. @failedLyndonLaRouchite You'd be surprised, a large percentage of them are successful! 😊

  3. @failedLyndonLaRouchite My Dad worked for the #ITU and then the #UNDP as an electrical engineer in the #thirdWorld. One of the highlights of his life was to establish enough engineering schools in Africa that an uninterrupted telephone call could be made from Egypt to SA and he could see that this would be an on-going facility. So much for the UN being a “tool of the USA”. #unitedNations

  4. @failedLyndonLaRouchite Exactly. Relativity tied a bunch of strange results together in an elegant way. The same applies to some of the other examples on my list—e.g. the reason the Alvarez hypothesis gained widespread acceptance relatively quickly is that none of the other proposed mechanisms for the #KPg #extinction (formerly #KT) fit the rather odd data.

Sadly, no. Not false the 🛋️ bit. AP _withdrew_ their story about it not being true as it's from his first book, page 180. Totally. #Couched. 💯 🤢

I was going to ask if you were referring to YKK, that company that seems to make almost all of the world's zippers.

You're talking about something else, but I wonder...

What other #bottlenecks or #SinglePointOfFailure's are there? The cables on the ocean floor that carry internet signals: I think there are only three or four, right? Or there is an underwater rock formation of the west coast of Africa that's waiting to break and create a tsunami.

    Thanks again!

  8. @failedLyndonLaRouchite I use Beyond Compare for *source* comparison. As a #technicalwriter I author in #DITA which is an xml specialization; nice because I can use the same toolchains and repos as my dev teams.

And BC *can* diff PDFs almost as well as Acrobat (in some cases better), so long as you're ok with it having scraped all the text out of it to do so. Which may or may not be what you want, but in that case, y not just diff the source.

  9. @failedLyndonLaRouchite @AnarchistArt I don’t mind hating on rich people, but my problem with this post is that we shouldn’t be joking about/celebrating the death of innocent people #trashy

IMO, combining the German invention of #agrivoltaics with the ancient and proven #Andean agricultural, water-management, and flood-control system of #WaruWaru could solve food, water, land, and green energy challenges in all parts of the globe where there still will be sufficient annual #precipitation.

This from The Conversation can be a start for your further search:

"Studies from all over the world have shown #crop #yields increase when the crops are partially shaded with #solar panels. These yield increases are possible because of the #microclimate created underneath the solar panels that conserves #water and protects plants from excess sun, wind, hail and soil erosion."

Similar to Iceland, there are several other countries where women recently have gone on strike to fight for gender equality.

    (1) In Argentina, women went on strike in 2019 to protest violence against women.

    (2) In Poland, women went on strike in 2016 to protest an abortion ban.

    (3) In Spain, women went on strike in 2018 to demand recognition of their labor and an end to gender-based violence.

    (4) In Belgium, women went on strike in 2019 to demand equal pay and an end to gender-based discrimination.

    (5) In France, women went on strike in 2019 to demand equal pay and an end to gender-based violence.

    (6) In Italy, women went on strike in 2019 to protest the government’s failure to address gender-based violence.

    (7) In Mexico, women went on strike in 2019 to protest gender-based violence and inequality.

    (8) In Chile, women went on strike in 2019 to protest gender-based violence and inequality.

Also history shows that sex strikes are a surprisingly effective strategy for political change.

as far as I know, Ms Maddow's salary is well over US $22 million a year

If her salary was cut to say US 5 million (god knows how she would survive ) then her employer could hire what, 100 new reporters ?

yet not one person bsky or mastodon applies the "every billionaire is a policy failure" rule to Ms Maddow

the top two people at Amnesty International, US, were paid close to US $400,000 in 2024 (I didn't see the 2025 return)

To me, that is still to high, so I won't donate to amnesty

but maybe I'm being an asshat

    Question
When I donate money to a charity, one thing I look for his how much the CEO is paid

eg, the ACLU is doing a lot of good work, but according to their 2024 tax return, the CEO was paid over 1.3 million dollars !!

So in 2024/2025, I did no give money to the ACLU, cause I thought the CEO's salary was absurd

According to the 2025 tax return, the 2highest paid people are paid US $600,000/yr
which to me is still grotesque, so no money to ACLU !!

now, lets look at Amnesty international
