I'm a fan of @egallager live-tooting the NH legislature, even though I don't think I've ever even been to #NewHampshire (I follow him because I'd met him at #LibrePlanet). Anyone know of other legislators who live-toot (hopefully in #Colorado #COPolitics)? #ElectMoreHackers

Since I won't be running for reelection in the fall myself, I'll be available to work on other people's campaigns. Let me know if you are hiring!

An announcement: Many of you may know that I am in a long-distance relationship. My fiancée @CJluvsMJ27 has recently made some serious progress in searching for a house where the both of us can live, so it's looking more and more likely that I will be leaving New Hampshire to go live with her soon. For this reason, I'd like to announce that I won't be running for reelection in 2026. There are 2 candidates that I know of who have expressed interest in filling my seat for me after I leave: Tom Brennan and Jason Quinno. Either of them would be strong progressives who align with my values, so I encourage any constituents to vote for either of them in the contested primary this September.

#MastodonPoll: Which of the following regulations regarding leaf blowers would you support? Choose as many as you like.
1. Decibel limits
2. Fuel efficiency standards (the relevant metric for cars is miles per gallon, so the corresponding one here would be what, leaves blown per gallon?)
3. Fuel type restrictions (i.e. ban gas-powered ones completely)
4. Full ban, both gas-powered ones and electric -
#MastodonPoll: I'm considering (or rather imagining) a Constitutional Amendment to the "State of the Union" part of Article II, but I'm debating myself over the wording... how would you fill in the blank in this proposed amendment?
"If the president _______ when performing this duty [to provide information regarding the State of the Union], this shall be grounds for impeachment."
1. lies
2. knowingly lies
3. knowingly and maliciously lies
4. makes a statement that constitutes libel or slander -

User:ForestHag has created a Wikipedia article for "New Hampshire Education Freedom Accounts" (or our "EFA" program for short); I encourage any Wikipedians who follow me (and who are free of conflicts of interest) to check the article for neutrality, comprehensiveness, and verifiability:

It's frustrating to see such high turnover in the city planning office. I encourage the city to take the complaints of its exiting planners more seriously and put greater effort into their retention. It shouldn't be taking this long to get form-based zoning in place. We could have hundreds more units in place by now if our planners were allowed to simply do their jobs.

#MastodonPoll: best response to "Iran can never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon"? (pick one)
1. "That's why we should have stuck with the JCPOA, which Obama negotiated and Trump blew up. Bombing Iran makes them more likely to seek a nuclear weapon." (redirect)
2. "Actually, they can and should be allowed and even encouraged to have a nuclear weapon." (contradict)
3. "Who are we to allow or disallow Iran from seeking a nuclear weapon?" (disclaim responsibility)
4. "Iran wouldn't have been able to complete a nuclear weapon anyways." (argue mootness)
5. "Do you remember nothing from the run-up to the Iraq War?" (appeal to history) -

2. Stephen Miller (as is popularly assumed)
3. Scott Bessent (as Bannon claimed)

So, it turns out that this month's WikiProject NH popular pages report (for March, covering the February time period) just so happens to coincide with Sen. Shaheen's retirement announcement; I think this is generally a good list to consult to discover who has statewide name recognition, and thus might be able to run a statewide election here. Let's review the politics of the living people in the top 25:
- KKKaroline: will probably stick with promoting fascism from the White House (at least until she gets fired) instead of running for Senate
- Paul Michael Levesque, a.k.a. "Triple H": married into the McMahon family, and Linda McMahon is currently serving as Trump's Secretary of Education, so probably right-wing
- Sarah Silverman: Notable for being a Bernie surrogate who told the "Bernie or Bust" faction that they were being "ridiculous" at the 2016 DNC; she later returned to support Bernie in the 2020 primaries as well. I think she could probably do pretty well here if she wanted to run.
- Mandy Moore: Performed at the 2016 DNC, marched at the Women's March, supported Pete Buttigieg in the 2020 primaries... she could probably do pretty well here, too, if she wanted to run.
- Noah Kahan: I know nothing about his politics, but given that he's from the Upper Valley area, I'm guessing he's probably relatively liberal/left?
- Seth Meyers: I think he's a relatively normie Democrat, but I'm not quite sure
- Dan Brown: probably a bad idea
- Toby Fox: I know nothing about his politics, but based on what I hear about Undertale's themes of mercy, they're probably pretty good?
- Ludwig Ahgren: idk
