@edd @ascentale @bikenite I look forward to community discussion among various advocacy groups to come up with bettery categories for regulation (wattage is not the only factor in speed and a heavier rider needs more wattage to do hills, for instance), but I agree that a lot of what people are endangered by aren't actually e-bikes but e-motorcycles.

@ai6yr @edd @ascentale @bikenite I mostly just bike somewhere with my thermos and drink that instead of purchasing a coffee since I'm generally struggling to pay the mortgage most months. I feel like the point is to have a nice bike ride to places you wouldn't otherwise go so that seems good enough.

I will admit one tempting reason to apply to this Doctor of Education program I am considering is so I can change my email signature at work and force my co-workers to call me Dr. I know it is vain, but I would get so much satisfaction out of it. You would too if most of your co-workers could barely do their jobs right and still treat you like you don't know anything either. I hate having to work. #EdD #capitalism

Spent all day calling #California #EDD a few dozen times to try to get my family leave processed (note: they haven’t paid me at all yet in the 4.5 weeks since I filed for PFL). Finally got onto the hold line (instead of just getting “the maximum number of callers has been reached, please call back later”) about 25 minutes ago. The hold music plays for 45 seconds, then a message tells me “all representatives are still busy, please continue to hold, expected wait time is 1 minute”. Every minute.
Why can’t I do this online? Why can’t they do a callback instead of a hold line? Why do they have a limit of how many people can be on hold at once, necessitating that I call them dozens of times? Why does it keep telling me the hold time is “1 minute”? California has 1737 FTEs working in this specific department; how many do you think it would take to make this actually work? 3000? 5000?
