My NUC 8 is still going strong, but the fan seems to start acting up around the 2 year mark. Thankfully it doesn't catastrophically fail. It just starts making unpleasant noises at certain speeds.
Still, I guess predictable failure is better than unpredictable failure.

I'm slowly inching closer to my poor man's imitation of an IBM Industrial SSK since the real thing is too rare and expensive. Maybe one day I will finish it off with the industrial dark gray chassis, but I'm already pretty happy with this.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn that there is a setting to control the sidebar icon size for Kate. Shrinking the size to 24 instead of 32 makes the folder icon finally match its neighbors. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
