  1. 💡 Product design at its core is a human translation service – converting complex technological capabilities into intuitive, meaningful experiences.

We're not just arranging pixels; we're building bridges between human needs and technological possibilities. Every great design solves a fundamental human challenge with elegance and simplicity.

In my work with AI and machine learning products, the most significant breakthroughs came when we stopped thinking about what technology CAN do, and started exploring what technology SHOULD do.

Design is an act of empathy, powered by technology.

Spend an hour this week exploring an emerging technology. Not to master it, but to imagine its human potential.

#Physics once had a #FrameProblem (#Complexity of #DynamicUpdating) long before #AI did but physics learned to reduce complexity through the use of #DifferentialEquations and #GroupSymmetries (combined in #LieGroups). One of the promising features of #MinimalNegationOperators is their relationship to #DifferentialOperators. So I’ve been looking into that. Here’s a link, a bit in medias res, but what I’ve got for now.

  4. Speed is such an important differentiator for small companies. Two hours ago, a user reported a rendering bug that occurred in some email clients. The fix is already online now.

  8. Ugh justwatch.com is SO CLOSE to being my ideal watchlist platform -- their key differentiator is that they provide accurate info about which streaming service(s) a given film/show is available on. I use them all the time.

But my to-be-watched list is now 679 films long, and they have no way to tag things, or split out into multiple lists, or to even have multiple users on one Pro account.

This year, presumably in an attempt to diversify & thus successfully become profitable, they added support for Sports, but did basically nothing feature-wise for movies/TV. Sigh.

  13. Does my idea of other works now being made #APnative, being a differentiator from not just closed platforms but also #bluesky & #ATproto, make sense?

AFAIK articles, videos, podcast episodes and songs etc can be made #AcrivityPub enabled from the start from now on, allowing lots of innovation but esp boosting/favoriting the work itself, not just a post that links to it. Replies get attached directly. Social media becomes less its own thing than an attention layer on the open web. Creators win.

  14. In our recent preprint (introduced here mstdn.science/@dagmarfraser/11) we show advantages of Savitzky-Golay differentiator filter in velocity-curvature power law calculations (possibly applicable in #kinematics in general). SG de-noises & gives arbitrary derivative, avoiding compounding error of BW filtering & repeated diff'ing.

We provide open-source code in #MATLAB github.com/dagmarfraser/veloci with BW filters and SG side by side, for easy drop in comparison and implementation.

  15. The sentiment around "safe" tech roles has flipped completely.

    My analysis this week shows:
#Python is now table stakes, not a differentiator
    • Pure data analysis (#Tableau, #basic #sql is diminishing
    • Junior roles are nearly absent—consistent with Sunak's warning
    • Mid-level roles demand specific #MLOps & #LLM skills

The real signal employers want? "Can you prove you shipped a model that someone relied on?"

  17. Comparing 424 to Max Verstappen’s 2025 pole lap in the Silverstone circuit. 424 is around 5 seconds slower, but this is very close to F1 race pace. The main differentiator is mass:

    424: ~950 kg F1 (qualifying): ~800 kg

The 424 is simulated with Vehicle Physics Pro using the most recent engineering data available. EV racing is expected to keep improving in the coming years.

  18. #AICodingTools are not a replacement for engineers - they’re a true Force Multiplier!

By offloading routine code generation and analysis, developers gain more time for deep problem-solving & thoughtful system design.

The real differentiator❓ ➡️ Strong prompt engineering ➡️ Clear instructions ➡️ A workflow that keeps humans firmly in the loop ➡️ Rigorous validation of AI-generated output
