As a lefty who mouses with left hand google sheets requiring me to use ctrl-v to paste is INFURIATING.
There's a menu item for paste in the context menu but it just pops up a little scolding dialogue instructing me to move my hand off the input device, to a different input device and do the operation there.
People wonder why I prefer the CLI.

Our friends at #Wisconsin Books to Prisoners (WBTP) have published a book called "Booked with Books." It is a collection of book reviews, written by people who had received books from WBTP.
"After getting those books, many of the prisoners wrote back to share what they thought. That launched an idea: Why not invite prisoners to write reviews, and then publish those in a collection?"

Most of our work consists of sending books to individuals who are incarcerated, choosing books of personal interest to the individual. There are other programs that instead focus on stocking #jail and prison libraries (which can be as small as a single bookcase or book cart). One of those programs, Pages of Redemption in #Washington state, just made the news for delivering 2,000 books to #jails in Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla and Yakima counties:

A number of programs enable #incarcerated #parents to read #books to their children. A new program uses #Tonies to achieve this.
(Not familiar with Tonies or the #Toniebox? See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonies for Wikipedia's explanation.)

Banned Books Week took place October 5-11, 2025. Thank you to everyone who observed it with us.
Now, October 19-25, 2025, we're observing PRISON Banned Books Week. This week shines a spotlight on #censorship in #prisons.
Here's an article about a prison that rejected a copy of the book "America Let Me In":
Want to know more about censorship in prisons? BookRiot published this summary:

This is sad. According to @nysfocus, the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility, which is New York's biggest #ICE detention center, has banned all #book deliveries. Rejected books have included an illustrated Spanish-English dictionary and “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work”.
Advocates are arguing that the book ban "violates detainees’ First Amendment rights".

We send books only to people incarcerated in the United States, but we follow books-in-prisons stories from around the world. Here's some good news from #Chelmsford, #Essex, #England: HM Prison Chelmsford has lifted its ban on families and friends sending #books to people incarcerated there.

The article says that: "The HMPPS Incentives Policy Framework, introduced in 2014, states that prisoners are entitled to receive books directly from their families and friends..."

Here's another news story from #Pennsylvania:
Having a family member in jail can be stressful for kids. To make jail visits a more positive experience, children visiting a family member in the Allegheny County Jail can now receive free books from a vending machine. The books come from Spark Books in Aspinwall.

Some jails allow book shipments from Amazon and big-box chains, while denying book shipments from independent bookstores. Now, an independent bookstore, Avid Bookshop, has filed a lawsuit alleging that this is unconstitutional.
