Nice write up by Prateek Karki on using memoization techniques in React. Great skill to learn about if you haven't looked into it before.

I cannot believe #DanCarlin almost didnt release this. The disservice to humanity that would have been done by such an oversight is incalculable.
If something as #inspirational and #enlightening as this is his _trash_, Imagine just how good the content that is worthy happens to be.
CW: this _is_ about the current #political situation, predominantly #uspol, which is _really_ #dark and #depressing. The opportunities that Dan exposes in this work are simply beautiful and I truly wish we can one day live in a world where we can actually experience the protections of the #us #constitution that our forefathers once #venerated.

Finally, great to hear. In general it seems hard to have people understand the difference between convienient locked-in platforms where you pay with your autonomy and privacy, compared to the open protocols the internet is build upon. We nevertheless do our best supporting the latter.
For example with explanations like this to our Dutch organizations, encouraging them to embrace the 'good' protocols as well: https://nietzonder.nl

#dancarlin does his first #politics #podcast in 3 years (!!!) And holy shit is it a banger. I found myself yearning to send it to my estranged parents multiple times during the listening.
The strongest recommendation imaginable.
Planning on giving it a relisten, it is _that good_
Ya know, dan gets alot of shit for his perfectionism, but it does make for a product that lasts decades.

#DanCarlin is back with #CommonSense and saying it like most people I know in #Canada see it.

Completed my #dancarlin collection by taking advantage of the December sale (promo code: holidays). Now I have many hours of #podcasts to listen to in the next year!
Looking forward to catching up on his viking related stuff, especially since I recently visited Sweden.

New #dancarlin #hardcorehistory addendum. If you have the time, I highly recommend it. In this time of political uncertainty, voices like Dan's are those to which we should be listening.

New #dancarlin #podcast episode! This one seems to be about the Vikings, which lines up nicely with my current #valheimgame obsession

Among the segment's sins: poor show notes and no timestamps for different discussions.
There's some good discussion on existential risk(s) (middle-ish), a segment toward the end on the practice, evolution, technology, and business of podcasting (focusing excessively on Rhymes-With-Schmoe-Brogan, but with good bits despite that), history, and other bits.
Also, for a change, the guest speaks more than Lex, and Dan's got the far superior podcasting voice.
I'll probably listen again.

#Uspol When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 #DanCarlin said something that really stuck with me. “Vladimir Putin has taken off a mask that he can never put back on”. It really feels to me that Elon and bezos and co have now done the same. It was a gamble for Putin and it is a gamble for them.

Can't imagine it would ever happen but #JoeRogan (and lots of his bro world) loves #DanCarlin. Get him on #JRE with any of the #MAGA elites that Joe now has access to. Trump, Elon, Vance, Tucker etc. Break the spell. #CommonSense #HardcoreHistory

@chefkoch77 And I thought that I am late to this party. Enjoy :yayblob:
I found myself listening to episodes in a concentration hole that I completely ignored @sakara until she hit me in the arm to wake me up again.
Such great stories. For the great voice/audio acting: May I recommend #DanCarlin to you? Hardcore History & Common Sense. Great #podcast too.

Check oot ma boots! 💜🌈
They're vintage daahling!
Every 5 years or so I remember I own these and thank my 1990s self for buying them.
...and this time I actually did the thing I've been meaning to do and bought them new laces and insoles so I can bring them back into service! Just need to take a purple sharpie to that wee hole in the toe and we are good to go 😊

How Well Does ‘Hardcore History’ Podcaster Dan Carlin Know His Ancient History?

One of my ezines switched to Substack a little while ago, and I remembered that one of my favorite podcasters started a newsletter on Substack, so I checked it out yesterday. Not sure when I'll find the time or the writers to follow, but it looks pretty interesting. The voice it uses to read the articles is also very good, at least in my opinion.
The ezine is the Wine Lovers Page at http://wineloverspage.com/
The podcaster is Dan Carlin and his Hard Core History podcast at https://www.dancarlin.com/

I'm not a fan of Lex Fridman's podcast generally (Because Reasons)...
... and 3h26 minutes is far too long ...
... but ...
... Dan Carlin's appearance is actually a pretty good interview.
IMO it should have been split into 5 or 10 segements of 20--40 minutes, rather than one massive bolus of nearly 210 minutes. But it covers a lot of interesting ground, with only a few digressions into Fridman's rather predictable and less-than-illuminating areas.
https://lexfridman.com/dan-carlin/
It also makes me think I might want to subscribe to Carlin's podcast. (He's "The History Guy" on YouTube, and I've caught a few of his episodes there. IMO this interview is more interesting than many of those.)

Love Dan Carlin. Hardcore History was on of the first shows I got hooked on.
