After 25 years, I've finally tracked down more music from one of my favourite game composers, Laugh and Peace.
They're the J-Pop band who composed the soundtrack to Vib-Ribbon for the Sony PlayStation. Besides that, they've also released an album, an EP, and a single.
I've regularly listened to the Vib-Ribbon soundtrack for years. It's great to finally have more of Laugh and Peace's music!

After playing Improbable Island for a bit over a month, I've written a blog post to share what I love about it:
https://dheinemann.com/improbable-island/
If you enjoy Persistent Browser-Based Games (PBBGs), this is one to check out! You can play the prologue without creating an account.

The developer is pretty cool, and is also here on Mastodon:

Some thoughts on motorcycle adventure and camping, and YouTube channel recommendations.

Now that my website has been migrated to Bear Blog, I've created a new Windows 3.11 theme for it.
With each iteration, the theme gets simpler and more streamlined. It's actually reasonably readable on mobile now!

@dHeinemann I was pretty happy with the ziptie stitch job I did on the chain guard of my kid's bicycle. #PirateLook

It's been too long since I wrote a blog post, so here's the first for 2023: my brief thoughts on the Honda Grom after six months of ownership.
(tl;dr this bike is awesome 🏍️ )

@dHeinemann Whenever I read Gygaxian, I get the impression that it was dictated, and it would be nice to hear it in that manner. I'm going to have to feed some of his prose in to a text reader some day. With AI you could even animate him so he looks like he was speaking it. #rainydayproject

@dHeinemann Against recommendation from younger people I bought my #Meteor350 with a screen to counteract buffeting. Vs several riders who didn't, it makes an enormous difference.

Welp, 2022 is over. It was a really productive year. Some personal achievements:
* Rewrote my calculator app, Replicalc, in #Go
* Got my #motorcycle license after putting it off for years
* Updated a work client's 150,000+ line #AspNetWebForms app to block unsafe-inline #JavaScript via #csp, and implement other modern web best practices
* Got my OG #RuneScape account back after it was stolen (https://dheinemann.com/posts/2022-04-02-how-my-runescape-account-got-stolen)Looking forward to 2023!

@dHeinemann A friend of mine who rides a Grom recently added a #Suzuki V-Strom 250 to his "fleet." Maybe that could be your next #motorcycle? (Not exactly heritage but fits the weight and speed requirements.)

@owen3d @dHeinemann pretty sure Grom to 1800cc GW trike is exactly the proper upgrade path! #Trikes for the win!

Due to the wet season, I haven't been able to get much riding in since December.
So I consoled myself the only way I know how: with upgrades! 🎉
Over the past few months, I've had installed:
* A bash plate
* LED indicator lights (stock were incandescent)
* Lowrider S tank (18 L instead of 13.25 L)
* Screamin' Eagle Ohlins front & rear suspensionNow she's "done". 😁

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650 has been announced!
It's a looker, but as expected, is very similar to the Classic and Super Meteor 650 bikes.

So what do I think of the Arai XD4 motorcycle helmet? I love it!
I've had it for a couple of days now, and took it on today's adventure ride.
The XD4 is extremely comfortable - maybe even more comfortable than the Shoei Neotec 3. Importantly for me, it doesn't aggravate my right ear and make it sore when wearing earplugs.

Apparently Doom Metal is the genre of the week!
Doom is my favourite music genre by far, and I could post recommendations all day.
However, I'll show some restraint and recommend just one of my favourites: Cirith Ungol by Reverend Bizarre.

It's a haunting song about the Ringbearer's journey to Mordor.

Finally watched Masters of the Universe, the 1987 He-Man movie.
Not a bad movie exactly, just a bit mediocre. Great costumes, decent sets and acting. Dolph Lundgren is pretty good. I found it kind of boring though, as far as Cannon Films go. Nowhere near as entertaining as the Barbarians.

Rode the Honda Grom out to Eungella national park, west of Mackay, Queensland. Beautiful day for a ride!

Today I learned about the Caller Information Attributes in .NET.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/language-reference/attributes/caller-information
These attributes make it easy to get information about a caller at runtime. For example, getting the name of the calling member, or the specific expression that was passed as an argument.
`CallerArgumentExpressionAttribute` is especially interesting. More details are available in the draft feature spec: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/language-reference/proposals/csharp-10.0/caller-argument-expression

After a week of wrangling ASP.NET Web Forms and onboarding a new developer at a client, I'm glad the weekend is here. 🎉
I feel like I have to remind myself how Web Forms works every time I go back to use it. It's like jumping into a time machine and realising you don't have access to the last 15+ years worth of innovations. Especially as this project uses VB.NET.
