Now that my website has been migrated to Bear Blog, I've created a new Windows 3.11 theme for it.
With each iteration, the theme gets simpler and more streamlined. It's actually reasonably readable on mobile now!

@dHeinemann Whenever I read Gygaxian, I get the impression that it was dictated, and it would be nice to hear it in that manner. I'm going to have to feed some of his prose in to a text reader some day. With AI you could even animate him so he looks like he was speaking it. #rainydayproject

Welp, 2022 is over. It was a really productive year. Some personal achievements:
* Rewrote my calculator app, Replicalc, in #Go
* Got my #motorcycle license after putting it off for years
* Updated a work client's 150,000+ line #AspNetWebForms app to block unsafe-inline #JavaScript via #csp, and implement other modern web best practices
* Got my OG #RuneScape account back after it was stolen (https://dheinemann.com/posts/2022-04-02-how-my-runescape-account-got-stolen)Looking forward to 2023!

Has anyone used the Firewalla hardware firewall products?
Expensive, but no subscription fees, and the feature list is impressive. Looks like a good alternative router to Unifi?
What gives me a little doubt is they've only been around a few years, and there isn't much discussion about them yet.
If you've used one, what do you think (good or bad)?

Today I learned about the Caller Information Attributes in .NET.

These attributes make it easy to get information about a caller at runtime. For example, getting the name of the calling member, or the specific expression that was passed as an argument.

So what do I think of the Arai XD4 motorcycle helmet? I love it!
I've had it for a couple of days now, and took it on today's adventure ride.
The XD4 is extremely comfortable - maybe even more comfortable than the Shoei Neotec 3. Importantly for me, it doesn't aggravate my right ear and make it sore when wearing earplugs.

Finally watched Masters of the Universe, the 1987 He-Man movie.
Not a bad movie exactly, just a bit mediocre. Great costumes, decent sets and acting. Dolph Lundgren is pretty good. I found it kind of boring though, as far as Cannon Films go. Nowhere near as entertaining as the Barbarians.

Just bought a ticket to see King Dude live in Fitzroy in November!
Always wanted to see him live, and it sounds like this might be the last time he visits Australia as 'King Dude'.

After a week of wrangling ASP.NET Web Forms and onboarding a new developer at a client, I'm glad the weekend is here. 🎉
I feel like I have to remind myself how Web Forms works every time I go back to use it. It's like jumping into a time machine and realising you don't have access to the last 15+ years worth of innovations. Especially as this project uses VB.NET.

My current project at work: merging two small system integration into a single new integration platform.
The new platform will not only perform the original two tasks, but serve as a foundation for future tasks. This also means implementing a simple scheduling system to control which tasks run for which tenants, and when.
Should be interesting!

CW: Cane toads, amphibians
This amazing 2.7 kg cane toad was found nearby where I live. It might have been a record... just look at this beastie!
Cane toads have completely devastated our native wildlife, but I can't help but feel a little impressed by this one.

Today we finally deployed our client's updated ASP.NET Web Forms app, now with a Content Security Policy that blocks unsafe-inline JavaScript! 🥳
Wrangling ASP.NET was fun, but I'm happy to see this little project finished. It's the busiest I've been in a long time.

And here are some goals for work for 2023:
* Fully migrate away from #AspNetWebForms to #AspNetCoreMVC REST APIs and #Vue.
* Implement #Docker and #CICD to streamline our product development and deployments.
* Start moving the business logic out of #SqlServer database stored procedures and into a proper Business Logic Layer. -
I don't do New Years resolutions, but here are a few personal things I'd like to do in 2023:
* Code more in #Go. Coding in my personal time is sporadic, and I'll end up forgetting what I've learned if I don't keep at it.
* Work on my #antediluvian #textAdventure and RPG setting.
* Write 12 new #blog posts (avg. of 1/mth)
* Get a second #motorcycle. Haven't decided what yet.
* See more live concerts. I've missed out on too many opportunities due to avoiding COVID. -
Wrapped up implementation on a massive piece of work today: updating a 150,000+ line ASP.NET Web Forms codebase to support a Content Security Policy and block unsafe-inline JavaScript.
This has been a massive piece of work, especially because Web Forms generates and adds its own unsafe inline JavaScript at runtime!
