#ThrowbackThursday to May 2016, when I had the opportunity to use a friend's infrared-converted camera (and had fun with it😁).

The invisible IR light is "shifted" into our human range through white balance, so anything goes with regards to color — there's no one "right" way for it to look...

Therefore, it's common to use black and white, or to swap the red & blue channels, in order to get a blue sky (what I did here).

spent entirely too long today working on a color symbol chart for hypothetical colorblind-friendly board game stuff.

design restrictions: no "platonic" shapes (circle, square, triangle), but also no "multi-object" shapes.

coin with a hole in it is on thin ice but I was running out of good ideas for light gray and I think if there's just one that does that then its fine.

acorn is in reference to heckadeck, and also to this eight-suited deck I designed a while ago for minecraft.

yellow chevron is in reference to the suits i designed to go with my pyramides papyrium.

I think I could probably come up with something more evocative for dark blue and dark fuchsia besides bowtie and caltrop, but they're surprisingly pretty uncommon colors so I don't have a lot of mental associations for them.

PSA: don't require people to distinguish between red/yellow/green in status LEDs etc. Especially if there is no other way to distinguish status (position of LED, flashing pattern, etc). Red-green color blindness is incredibly common (~5% or so of people), much more common than other kinds of color blindness.

I'm not colorblind so can't give specific recommendations, but it seems that green/blue or red/blue are better options if you have to differentiate by color. While there are people who have trouble differentiating between those colors, it's much rarer than red-green color blindness.
