While wanting to avoid License debates, are free to use code in core, they just have to follow the license. It's mainly OpenBSD that tries to get rid of all GPL, which gets slightly extreme at times, like their recent effort to rewrite to get a non gpl version. has so much compat stuff running I doubt they can keep GPL out of core, but don't know. I really only pay attention to OpenBSD anymore. > for sure though

Let's try typing this sentence with my symbols layer left on.

    L]#'* (&{ #}(* *]&#]&%] [(#} my *ymb)l* l@y]r l]f# )&)

HAHAHA that was hilarious, especially with vim's autocompletion of parens, brackets, and braces. XD

  3. @[email protected] Yes you can. Although I'm not very sure this is possible in NixOS. You can use a hosts-file level ad-blocker such as #TBlock

Oh, is it really? It looked similar from the site but I guess I didn't try it out.

Yep, definitely! This is what I've been using in vim, foot, and now tut.

  5. @benjaminhollon @joel I’m checking it out on my workstation and I can tell you it’s very different from the superior Solarized Light :rms:

All jokes though, it’s a very nice theme. I’m liking the iTerm theme that they have listed on their GitHub page. The VSCode theme though I’m not a bit fan of. For JS, having the async and function keywords be orange/red respectively is annoying. Their contrasts and hues are too similar.

No hate though, us users need to stick together! :smart:

Ok, I'll have to try it on another machine later. It just bogs down on my .

  7. @benjaminhollon For remote backup storage it may be worth checking out , , or for pretty cost effective solutions.

For a bit more can enter the mix as well.

  8. Shhh (don’t tell @benjaminhollon), I moved more dirt today. With help from the miss, we finished off the front yard and filled the dumpster!

Who knew home ownership could be so exciting!!!

Then I'll surely but from . I've also read and saw nice reviews.
I'm even a bit thrilled by their Split-64...

P.S. Huh! It's actually pretty viewable in #Fedilab if you turn your phone sideways. Of course, all of those unicode characters are the same width. Didn't consider that.

P.P.S. I actually remember making "Graphics" like that with #GWBASIC on #DOS in the early #90s (although not as good, for sure)

    lol, that's adorable.

Makes me remember the time I taught my grandmother (who's 103 this year) how to use my classic Mac in the late 90s.
She wrote up this super sweet thank-you note for me in II. I still have a photo of it somewhere.

  19. @alexcox Looks like I’m not too late to join in?

My main Home Screen only has utilities that I can’t get distracted by. (Oh, and a world clock, since family lives on another continent.)

The next page has everything folders that I routinely shuffle so I don’t absentmindedly click into something and procrastinate there. A few apps have badges, but none are allowed to make noises with their notifications.

Final page (not pictured) has a screen time report and nothing else.

  20. @RL_Dane @mjgardner @benjaminhollon Off the top of my head, the slowest are glxinfo, when you look at NYTProf speed graph, all of the features are topped by a subshell, with one exception, #/sys cpu speeds, those are subject to 10ms per core delay so the kernel can generate accurate realtime speeds. guys and me found that when doing CPU refactor. is quite slow, but inxi gets most usb data from /sys, uses lsusb only for device names, which come from huge usb lookup table.

Dolphin *does* have a ton of options.

I think is a really nice compromise.
