Good find today. My neighborhood has a few #LittleFreeLibrary boxes with free books, give or take. Never had taken one until today.
Found a copy of #TimothySnyder 's #OnTyranny. Such a good, yet scary, small book! I have read library copies twice now.

@dev Agree. My #VTA + #BART + #ACTransit route used to be $8.55 on my #clippercard , now it's $3.70. Not sure how this math / finance works out.
I did read that the current discount is up for review in approx 18-24 months.

I heard back on this the other day. The #SJM aka #SJMN aka #mercurynews turned off their feeds due to #aiscraping , as they offered full articles in the feed.
Ugh. Still a -4 on productivity.

What the? #SanJoseMercury aka #SJMN or #mercurynews , once the 5th largest newspaper in the US, one I've subscribed for, eh, 20 years, cut off it's RSS feed last week. What kind of enshitification level is this?
They use Wordpress as their CMS. You'd think RSS support would essentially be a checkbox or plugin.

It was one of those crappy Mondays where, on my #commute to the office in the time shifted morning dark, on 3 bus lines (2 #vta , 1 #actransit ) and a train, 2 of the three bus runs were cancelled.
Tried to make the most of it with inbox purging and extended reading/podcasts. Got to the office over an hour late.
#amorfati : yes, trying so hard. 😀 It wasn't raining.

I had been watching this daily afternoon #LinkedIn News video, called #wrap-up that summarized three big news stories of the day, for years. Maybe longer. It was a rather short production, about 2 minutes each, and had pretty high signal. Almost always hosted by John C Abell.
It recently stopped. I went hunting, and found that Abell left LinkedIn earlier in October.
All good things come to an end. Probably one of #linkedin 's best parts.

While doing errands today, I ran out of podcasts. Put on #BessieSmith 's Complete Recordings, Vol 1. I always like rediscovering this - scratchy audio, a beautiful, strong, passionate and unprocessed voice with backing music.
Hours later, it's still going. Hits the spot.

I upgraded my phone, from a #pixel6a to a #pixel9a. I'm surprised still how difficult the OS and apps make these transitions:
- Forgotten notification sounds and alarms
- App notification preferences
- Applications that don't persist their settings and data - ugh!
- Wifi, Google Wallet cards, etcKudos to app devs who take care of this. Like the 2FA #Aegis app and the rShopping List app - seamless.

I was kind of eventually expecting this, but #Pocket is closing. Just this year I made a self challenge to read 10 articles out of my saves a day to reduce it. I'm generally up to date on that, but...
I've been using Pocket since before Mozilla picked it up. Now a fire is on to reduce my saves, so exporting to wherever I go (#linkwarden ? #readeck ? #inoreader ? or other) will be easier.
I didn't need the extra work though.

A #Simon_Malls holiday commercial sounded very familiar on a initial listen as a YouTube commercial. Second listen confirms. Check it on YouTube as "Meet Me At The Mall" and has a woman roller skating with a package. I'm not going to link it. It's only 30 seconds of pain.
It's a lift of #SimpleMind's #Don't_You_ (Forget_About_Me) from #The_Breakfast_Club 1985 movie. Yeah, and throws different phases of the song together in a big mash up. Painful, as I said, for such a classic tune.

As a kid, I recall when #FernandoValenzuela 's national league teams would visit and play the local team, and if it was his turn to pitch, it'd likely be a low scoring game for the home team. He played 17 years as a pitcher. That's amazing.

A buddy posts on another platform that #SeeFeel has a new EP out. It's on YT and other music places titled "Everything Squared" and is a shoe-gaze electronic soundscape near half hour of glory. This hits the spot for wrapping up a tough week and cleaning up before powering down the work laptop.
Not the exact line up from the mid 90's, but enough for a majority. Sounds great!

Yay. In professional credential news, I added the "A-CSM" letters to coincide with my recently received Advanced Certified ScrumMaster credential that I received from ScrumAlliance today.
In normal times, this might bring a raise or new title, or prestige at the office with new duties. Maybe a donut, a pat on the back, or a call out at an all-hands type of meeting.

@codemonkeymike #nixOS (and future updates) will fit in 16GB? I'd imagine a few browser updates and generations and space would be gone.
I've upgraded 2 CB's myself. One I replaced the 8gb drive with a 128gb drive and it's currently got #voidlinux. The other I left a 16gb drive in and have #PeppermintOS currently, #antixlinux previously.

Today the #RC5-72 project at #distributed.net crossed 10% of the space. It's only taken those like me who donate spare CPU cycles 20 years, (7447 days) to get to this point.
