  6. @alessa_ed I made the conscious decision long ago to not be a mommy influencer with my blog. Yes, I wrote about my sons, but it was to not feel so alone and to help others not feel so alone. Raising #gifted and #TwiceExceptional kids can be so lonely and isolating. I’ve written considerably less about them as they’ve gotten older, to the point that I rarely write about them at all.

  7. @alessa_ed So many open questions here, and a very clumsy use of the term Emperor, in my opinion. Wouldn't even call someone an usurper if he neither challenged the Empire nor was perceived as a challenge.
So the gist is: the coins are not recent. Everything else remains to be debated.

  8. My #HSchat intro: My name is Alessa and you'll find my personal Masto account @alessa_ed. I'm in the US and #homeschooled my kids from K into college, mostly as a single parent. I still volunteer my time with my state's #SecularHomeschool advocacy organization. I also do compliance reviews for VA families. My biggest challenge was being outstripped by my kids' academic needs with advanced science and trying to find affordable, quality resources that would meet their needs.

  9. It's easy to forget in today's political climate that some decisions are made for secret altruistic ulterior motives. Just because we don't benefit doesn't mean the rigged system is bad.

  15. I did a pro bono consult and am left with a bit of a dilemma, so tell me , what would you do. 7yo girl attends a middle class . A 1st grade boy repeatedly enters the girl's bathroom and taunts the girl's as he looks at them under the doors. After the girl's privacy had been violated a number of times over weeks, she finally kicked the boy in the face the last time, as he was peering at her. Girl is developmentally delayed and school punished her, not 1/2

  22. Abolish the #college Honor Code?

The #student writer makes interesting and valid points about how #Princeton (and all #HigherEd for that matter) Honor Codes create a double disciplinary whammy to #FLI students. What's missing from the piece, though, is any stats on whether or not first gen college students are disproportionately brought up on violations. #edutooter #academia

Clearly the school failed to provide if they were requiring the parents to chaperone their child throughout the day. I'm not a fan of more restrictive environments for young , but if a doesn't have the resources to ensure a safe environment for all kids under their care, then a change should have been made.

  27. When kids are tapered off one psychotropic drug only to be replaced with another, there can be huge mood and behavior issues. #Schools aren't notified during this 2-6wk period, so #disciplinary issues are attributed to the kid being defiant. This can result in #restraint, seclusion, & even #student #arrest. #Foster parents can be manipulated to agree to more restrictive school placements, if there's an #IEP. This just further damages the child's ability to receive an #education. /2 #edutooter

Aside from health risks of docs prescribing meds off-label to kids, let's talk about the #education and #PrisonPipeline implications of this atrocity. 1/2
