@ahasty @ati1 @linmob You should be able to use #Thunderbird for #PGP encrypted email (with mobile-config-thunderbird), or webmail instance that supports it like #SnappyMail or any other webmail using #Mailvelope extension in Firefox.
Not sure about #YubiKey, #NitroKey or alternatives as I've never used any, but they should connect to the Librem's USB-C port. The #Librem5 has a slot for a PGP smart card ( #LibremKey ?) to store private keys so you could also use that. Hopefully, someone who's used that can see your question and answer, or you can ask in Purism forums or pmOS Matrix room.

I didn't get the same feeling after AWS or Azure. This may be because of inherent bias or that I don't know where to find their direct RCA Blog like I do Cloudflare.

As someone who is in the tech industry and has a fairly high level understanding of the protocols and systems that make up the internet, how am I, a husband, a father, and a human being, ever supposed to be comfortable with the current techno-feudalism that is fueling this fascist takeover of my county.
We need people in leadership roles at all levels of government who aren't older than microwaves. We need people who fear the power of data, and protect human rights over corporate profits as it relates to data.

OK so someone talk me down here.. Can I build a custom live distro with just the apps I use and use something like a self hosted sh file that I can pipe to shell to setup my customization and download dotfiles and have a ephemeral OS that I can be at "home" with any x64 PC with an internet connection? How feasible is this? anyone doing somehting similar. I mean I web browse, email and write some code..

As I prep for #DEFCON, packing bags full of too many gadgets and tools, I’m reminded of the internet of my youth. It was a place where anyone could freely debate, explore, and share on a level playing field. Discovery was everywhere. DEFCON feels like an extension of that long-lost internet. It’s one I still hope we can rebuild, piece by piece, through tools like those found in the #fediverse.
It’s easy to feel disheartened today. Companies like VISA and MasterCard are flexing financial influence over games and speech. At the same time, governments in the UK and several U.S. states are pushing invasive laws under the tired excuse of “protecting children.”
But DEFCON reminds me of something powerful. When you strip away politics, age, race, and status, and engage with people based on the merit of their ideas and their boundless desire to learn, amazing things can still happen.

I am convinced that if you have and watch the NHL network you are part of the problem. I pay to stream all the games and still have blackout due to location and then have to pay for fuckin' DirecTV to get the games NHLN decides are popular enough to get more money out of us! I am not doing it!

Ok.. so sadly I cannot make DEFCON this year. I am looking for an equally fun, though driven conference that is ideally not in Vegas and not that week.
I don't want to go to a vendor con.. because I can get that info from a vendor. Who has a kick-ass bsides? Anyone know about Blueteamcon?
I can't make cackalackycon as I will be in the middle of the ocean that week.

Or maybe I should use my "training and conference" budget to go to RTA and do some PACS stuff! I know most of the course material but it would be nice to fill in the gaps.

So first real toot post #DEFCON. Ostrich Lab got 9th in ScavHunt, 14th at RedTeam, and >15 in Blue Team (looking for this number now). Got to see a bunch of people and have some good talks about why people should support Ostrich Lab.
Gave out a ton of stickers and card.. Some special edition NFC cards!
While this year was less about competing and more about building social connections and exploring more of the culture of DEFCON, I am proud of where the team placed. Next year we will show up to compete and bring home some hardware!
Recovery time isn't an option, the OL team is busy working on preparing some talks for the #Memphis #CyberSec scene, working on some coordinated disclosures, and designing the next Ostrich Lab #CTF

Your patronage is not enough. The transaction of goods and services for money is not enough, there is still profit to be extracted. These companies use facial recognition, sentiment analysis, and eye-tracking software to know every product you look at and the mood you are in. They record every payment method you have used, who you ship to, and how often. Then they sell this to the highest bidder, only to buy it back bundled with data from your social media, other retailers, your car manufacturer, and your phone’s GPS location. With this data, they perform abstract analysis to determine, down to the penny, how much more value they can extract from you.
You would think this is enough, but it’s not. They lay off workers and never replace them, piling the workload on those who remain in order to extract more value from them. They guilt employees into not using vacation, convince them they don’t need a union, and keep them voting against their own interests every day. When does it end?
