#qtox and #atox worked perfectly well when I tried them, but the windows version was flaky when I tried that.

I know some people are sniffy about windows but to mainstream at all they'll have to get that right. You can't ignore that many users.

@aaravchen hmm...so the main heavily used service is Mattermost, which is used mainly for texting (not much media).

Then there's also a currently low-traffic (5-10 visitors/day) #Ghost website with lots of images and #GoatCounter to track the stats.

Now that you mention it, a disk I/O issue is likely: I've had a few of those in the past, sometimes so bad tthey caused MySQL to crash.

@aaravchen @raretrack One of the things that is of concern is the ability for the system (or aspects of it) to be easily censored... I quite often travel to countries that aren't exactly social media friendly...

@nextcloud + #mastodon + @manyver_se will probably be the most viable for me..

Does anyone know how booting Linux in FIPS mode gains any use or security from the `.vmlinuz.hmac` file? The interweb has no info at all.

It's a basic SHA of the vmlinuz file, but it has no way to verify authenticity or integrity of the hash, and is distributed with the thing it supposedly verifies. How does that have any purpose?

Was just watching the live action #Disney #LittleMermaid movie. I have never seen such poor CGI. Somehow their face CGI during underwater scenes made their lips constantly time shift sync with the audio, while the props in the scene stayed in sync. WTF guys?

`make --dry-run` prints but doesn't run the commands. Bear wraps the compiler calls to intercept them, so it requires you to actually call the compiler.

The whole problem is that there's no way to get the includes and dependencies unless you do all the preprocessing, which is a portion of the way into compiling. You could add the compiler flag to only do pre-processing, but you'll only save a little time versus a full compile.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Have you looked at #Tdarr or #sickbeard_mp4_automator (not sickbeard or MP4 exclusive) that will automatically convert content when it's added?

In particular, the fact that you can't actually mine on the #blockstack chain means it's not actually distributed yet. And the expected yearly hard forks means it's still very early and incomplete. Theory still being tossed around in their FAQ about burn-rate vs mining payouts and leadership elections suggests they haven't really figured out the basics yet.
