  1. New book: Brittany Luby, et al. (eds.), Manomin: Caring for Ecosystems and Each Other

The book "offers a community-engaged analysis of the under-studied grain [Manomin, or wild rice], weaving together the voices of scholars, chefs, harvesters, engineers, poets, and artists to share the plant’s many lessons about the living relationships between all forms of creation."

  7. Unimpressed with #Fully: ordered a #Jarvis #standingDesk in February (with "ships next business day") after a _lot_ of research.

Last night it got cancelled because "during our busy Fully sale, we encountered a challenge with our inventory management, and unfortunately, one or more of the items you ordered are no longer available".

    And now it's been refunded.

Do I go for dark bamboo and replace the order, or go for a #Flexispot?

  9. Bought a packet of Salad Mix lettuce seed from Simply African Seed Co, and... In 40 years of growing veg, I've never seen such a stingy amount of seed in a packet ever. Barely enough for ½ of a seed tray. Never again.

Given how prolific Lettuce seed is (and I've grown Lettuce seed commercially!) this is just sheer profiteering.

  10. @tkk13909

Kinda like when I'm scrolling through youtube shorts (awful habit, I know. I'm trying to quit) and they're like "Lemme show you this awesome (new tech|tech tip)..." and immediately pan overe to a windows machine.

  11. I don't usually suggest severe beatings for Product Designers and their management, but in the case of Coop Oecoplan Durgol Universal Entkalker, I'd suggest it might be justified. Specifically, its "Child-safe" lid, which is also Adult-safe, and which actually requires tools to cut off the "press & twist off" safety cap so that it can _actually_ be opened and then be decanted into some container that one can _actually open again in the future_.

  12. @LauraJG Yeah, this is just reputation management from Hillsdale. They're just mad their name got dragged into the press for something other than being the hottest new supplier of white Christian nationalist curriculum. #unimpressed

  13. unimpressed with a campsite that I am thinking of booking. They forbid cycling on their internal roads including the road to the shop for the safety of other campers, obviously they don't forbid cars or camper vans on those roads because they're safe.
