As a result, made some fantastic friends, went to meet them, toured with them around Belgium three years in a row (but not this year) but friends for life as a result. @TwoClownsEating Oh yeah - in 1996 (I think!), we had Reef play. They had a day off after the show and the bassist, Jack Bessant, asked if there was anywhere decent to go walking. Coincidentally my housemate Roj and I were going up to Edale in the Peak District the day after, so Jack stayed at our house and we had a great day out walking.
He stayed at a B&B that night and rejoined the tour the next day.
He subsequently went back there with his girlfriend and proposed 🙂

Steve Lamacq bought me a pint when we had him DJ an indie night.
Jarvis Cocker was aloof but hilarious.
The Manics were bloody lovely, as were The Prodigy, Orbital, PWEI, D:Ream, The Orb and many others.Best story though: Kirstie MacColl, post show, asked for some new towels. I fetched some, knocked on the door of the dressing room and found myself 1/N

18 years on Facebook for me and a lot of people from a former social media network, #FriendFeed, that I'd love to stay in contact with, so I'm planning to put up a series of posts with ways to find me and requests for ways to find them. Have to hope the algorithm lets them see it before I flip the switch.
I've also got a lot of family there - Americans, Irish - but family is a perversely easier thing to break connections with as I've made my own on the web over the decades.

@Twoclownseating Yes, definitely! Seemed like they were in pretty regular rotation on the radio here, I just took 'em for granted when I was young. I didn't realise that most of the rest of the USA had never heard of 'em. We were lucky to have DJs like #ElectrifyingMojo to keep 'em spinning!

I've been playing on Jamulus for several years. Latency can be a problem, but the issue is greatly reduced by wearing over-the-ear headphones so that you don't hear your in-the-room sound, but only the sound returning from the server. It's surprising, but your fingers start to play ahead so that the sound blends in with the other musicians. Musicians in orchestras have to deal with as much as 40ms of latency across the group.
