I love Japanese literature. Finished #TheMemoryPolice by #YokoOgawa a few weeks ago.
I don't know whether it's just about totalitarianism, or whether it's also a reflection of mental health issues following a toxic relationship, where you forget about parts of yourself too, but it doesn't really matter. This story can be enjoyed on many levels.

Came to know of this book via Verge yesterday. It’s being released in the first half of August. By the time I placed a hold on it at my local library today morning, the queue had 4 people already. Who are you people and why aren’t we friends?

Christ, look at the time! I should be asleep, but I've been "one more chapter"ing this book (The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa) for the past hour.
It's weird as hell, but incredibly compelling. Still a bit to go, but I'm already more than willing to recommend it to fans of strange speculative fiction.
