And it has already started examining that outcrop

    😲
They need a quick forward-reverse routine. If the drill speaks G-code, then something like M03, M04, or maybe try peck drilling with, say, G73? 🤓 🙃

  3. @PaulHammond51 reminds me that today is the 5th anniversary of #Perseverance landing on the surface of #Mars, hanging under the #SkyCrane as seen in this #OutOfThisWorld image it captured the moment the umbilical cord connecting them was cut, and the Sky Crane veered off to a heroic crash about 900m NW.

So about 550 personnel will be let go. That is soo sad. Stop the #Shutdown. Open the government.

  5. @PaulHammond51 if anything, @Landru79 's dust devil gifs have shown us how that landscape west of Jezero is like a "highway of devils", and in reality, they don't move so fast, so #WhatAreTheOdds weren't specially high 😉 But the sight of these two things on the same view is great nevertheless!

I did a quick&dirty brightening of the shadowed part of another of Jacint's gifs, there's cool displacement from this abrasion.

I put a #PDSAnalystNotebook tag so we can come back and see what this delay was all about when the reports will be made public.

  15. @tsturm @PaulHammond51 the fact that they mention #JezeroRimSpherules among the rubble reminds me of this other case: mastodon.social/@sharponlooker

I think it's safe to say this one will be classified as an impact subproduct, but we'll see.

  16. @65dBnoise @PaulHammond51 I know we have other fish to fry atm, but this one dropped the other day and may have relevant info, specially on regolith. Disclaimer: not read, just a quick browse.

  17. Yesterday @PaulHammond51 noticed the difference in the color of tailings from the "Apollo Temple" abrasion (thanks for the name @JoseAC !) and the drilling for the new sample. Here is a better image showing them both:
