#SciFi CStross and #Doctorow IIRC wrote a collaborative story called "#unwirers " years ago about the expansion of a #wireless #mesh #network into an unfriendly or captured by capitalists (if there's a difference) environment.
Potentially risky, but surely the people who are unwired will have Wifi and why would they take note of where a network was coming from.

@Mehrad This is something where cyberspace *might* help in terms of pressuring the media and governments. If you know of websites with petitions, or pressure-your-MEP/MP/member-of-Congress guides or similar, to #OpenTheIranianInternet , add them to this thread.
I see lots of Manichean comments on Fedi about the #ceasefire, but very few boosts of comments by Iranians on Fedi, and I haven't seen any calls (apart from yours) for the 99% or so Internet blockade to be lifted.

@Mehrad I suffered from severe Emacs pinky and other RSI pain until I switched to an #Atreus62 #OrthoLinearKeyboard and remapped Ctrl & Meta as thumb controls. That was about 5 years back, and have been pain-free since

@Mehrad @andri @z3ntu Also if you want an alternative phone that is focussing on the same things as FairPhone is consider looking into #shiftphones. Full disclosure, as #postmarketOS developers we got some free phones from them to develop mainline Linux support and get our system working well on it, but so far their #SHIFT6mq turns out to be really nice and it follows the same values as #FairPhone does.

It's of course intended as an anti-SaaS clause, and the big SaaS providers are of course aware, so in that sense it is quite deliberately done this way.
Of course it affects eg. Hobbyists who just want to run a service on VPS in exactly the same way.
IMO the #EUPL is a very double edged sword in that sense. -

:) I am sorry i have to laugh a bit. Still people try to trust #FB apps like #Wapp and be surprised with a #privacy change in the settings, negative to the user. (they are forcing already a lot). The best thing is not to use it at all.
I guess you use #Signal as default.
Why not only Signal and make internet a bit more secure.
Though i understand people who are not familiar with the subject, FB "things" are made so easy and helpful, to switch to signal is not easy. -

Mechanism: That petition [1] (and this Fediverse bubble) is (are) a small component of a complex dynamical system [4]. A positive feedback loop to #OpenTheIranianInternet could grow exponentially (beyond Fedi) to the point where the IRI/IRGC concede to external + internal pressure (such as son of President [5]). Whether it grows or is dampened will (partly) depend on arguments for or against.
