Reality is a bitter pill when you’ve been fed a steady diet of religious fantasy. While life always was random, I felt safer when I could explain it as “God’s will” or “Satan’s handiwork.” I felt extremely exposed & vulnerable without my Cosmic Big Brother watching over me. In the late 80s, my now-retired #ornithologist husband spent time bird-watching with #margaretatwood (whom he called Peggy) and her husband, Graeme. Still in hospital. It’s been over a week, for something (laminectomies) that was only supposed to be 2 to 3 days. However, I have received very good care and do not have to pay for one penny of it.
