  1. @Hesperalis Oh, that Sylva Grow is expensive but peat compost shouldn’t be sold at all. It certainly shouldn’t be sold cheaper than the peat free alternatives. #Allotment #PeatFree #Compost #GrowYourOwn

  2. @Hesperalis That schedule makes sense.

Useful information I gleaned from John Kempf’s brilliant Regenerative Agriculture podcast with Harriet Mella regenerativeagriculturepodcast was the best uptake for foliar feed (from sap analysis) is the week before the full moon. The least advantageous time is the week of the new moon.

    I dabble in a bit of #RegenAg #KNF, #permaculture, #biodynamics.

When Spring arrives I’ll be making some IMO2 in the fridge into IMO3 with bran & then IMO4 with soil.

  3. @CiaraNi @hydropsyche i was also thinking of you yesterday- some more unsual #cloud observations on #ClimateDiary yesterday! I have to confess I didn’t know the word #MackerelSky before - thank you for adding another new word (for me) to #climatediary @Hesperalis and @privateshufti

  11. Good morning. It's flower Friday. A little pale arrangement from 2021 with anemone, white tulips, blush Ranunculus and some fresh new foliage. Lost all my Ranunculus this year and missing them sorely.

  13. The IPCC report is grim. While we all know that phasing out fossil fuels is paramount, in my small sphere I take heart that people I know, who suddenly took up gardening during the first lockdown, by working with the earth and the weather, have become a lot more aware of the effects of climate change. Although lots of people are too afraid to voice their concern, I believe a quiet revolution is taking place. I hope this translates to better choices at elections.

  16. Rapidly approaching the time to get out some dahlia tubers and get them into growth in order to take cuttings. The bulk of the tubers will not be started until the end of the month, but by taking cuttings I can get new refreshed plants.

  20. Good morning. Today I will be planning what flowers I will be growing this season. Allotments allow you to grow not just veg you can't buy in the shops, but also gorgeous flowers which attract the pollinators and soothe the soul.

  21. #Hesperis matronalis blooms in May and you'll never forget this #scent of warm spring evenings. The plant has names like Mother-of-the-Evening, #Nachtviole, Matronenblume, #Giroflée des Dames, and more mythic ones.
I'll never forget these #flowers. With them, I found my sense of smell again in that hard spring of 2020. I needed nearly one year to be able to write about the plant. Memories come back with this: ▶️
