  4. A lucid discussion by Mike Berners-Lee at the Edinburgh Book Festival this afternoon. He argues that the only way out of the climate crisis, and the wider polycrisis, is to adopt a zero- tolerance approach to dishonesty in public life. Why are deliberate lies no longer a resigning matter?

  6. Browsing the #EdinburghBookFestival programme. I hope to see some events online, either live or on catchup. Aiming for at least #GretaThunberg and #DeniseMina. But I'll wait for my printed copy of the programme to arrive then study it. In person ticket sales open later this month but online streaming tickets can be bought now. The #streaming system they use works very well. I've enjoyed lots of talks in recent years. edbookfest.co.uk #books #reading #bookFestivals #Edinburgh #edbookfest

  7. Finally going through the Edinburgh Book Festival programme, and disappointed as the proportion of streamed talks diminishes even further for yet another year. Luckily I am finding some gems, including Robert Macfarlane and Hallie Rubenhold. But it is pretty poor representation on accessibility grounds. #accessibility #streaming #EdBookFest #Books

  9. I thoroughly enjoyed the talk by Ben Okri about his new book at @edbookfest on Friday night. It got a bit postponed because of travel problems, but it gave my friend and I time to start the 🍷before the talk... and still continue it after. He was also very friendly at the signing and his daughter a pearl. I'm also really enjoying his new book and The Famished Road... #howmanynovelsareyoureadingatonce!

If you’re in or near #Edinburgh, #Scotland or northern England you might come to the #EdBookFest where @nicolakellywrites.bsky.social and I are talking about our new books on this. 1/ 💙📚 🗃 #politics @edbookfest.bsky.social
