NO! I do NOT want to have to install your fucking app in order to use your product.
If the shitty, spyware app is mandatory then tell be *BEFORE* I make a purchase. Scum.
Fuck you.

@pugmiester I avoid it also. But when I dip in once a month or something, I use #SocialFixer https://socialfixer.com/

Just received an email from Microsoft about a 20%+ increase in my M365 subscription. They are taking the piss. Since none of my (otherwise perfectly performant) hardware supports W11, I have already been experimenting with Linux and Proton Mail and this will obviously encourage me to continue in this direction.

Great post on the @energystatsuk website looking into the pros and cons of different electricity tariffs for running a #heatpump - also talks about the Havenwise app for optimizing control.

@JingleDJ Thanks! I've done a bit more reading and experimentation and (along with some other suggestions from folk) I'm fairly confident about things. But it's not natural is it?! Basically, I still agree with this guy: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1c0qjo5/comment/kz0dtdr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Anyway, it is what it is. No changing it now - although installing PyScript or AppDaemon is appealing (even though I've never used Python in anger (yet...) - I'd still be a lot more productive I think)...

Not saying I'm going to do it (at least, not yet) but I may move to a different #Mastodon Instance at some point. I'm sure many of us #noobs just grabbed the first server that had bandwidth during the Great Exodus of 2022.
So, if you think you might want to move - here's a great guide: https://blog.djnavarro.net/posts/2022-11-03_what-i-know-about-mastodon/#how-do-i-move-my-account-to-a-new-server
(Actually, the whole blog article looks pretty useful 🙂 )
Thanks @Johannab

Thanks... I looked into the integration and API and (for anyone who's wondering) the coverage is pretty much exclusively North America. There are apparently monitoring stations in other countries (at some US embassies) but nothing in Northern Europe. #HomeAssistant #Airnow -
A quick plug for #Elektor magazine https://www.elektormagazine.com/magazine - if you're into electronics, microcontrollers, #ESP32 and all that stuff.
This month's edition is guest-edited by #Espressif and includes info on the latest ESP32s along with an interesting interview with their CEO - https://www.elektor.com/elektor-special-espressif-guest-edition-2023-pdf-en
Well worth a browse 🙂

I've seen a couple of posts recently about soil moisture detectors for use with automation #HomeAssistant. I read a great article on the subject in #Elektor magazine a while ago and have tracked it down. If you're thinking about adding soil moisture detection somewhere then this is absolutely worth a read: https://www.elektormagazine.com/articles/moisture-sensors-for-watering-systems

Oohhhh... Lucky! Managed to get my hands on a shiny new Raspberry Pi 4B #RPi4 (from the #Elektor Store) #HomeAssistant

Just seen Caroline Lucas @CarolineLucas interviewed on C4 news (UK) in relation to the horrendous but totally expected cop-out at the current COP. I actually laughed out loud earlier, through the news that phasing out fossil fuels would not be a resolution from this COP, not happy laughter but manic why-the-absolute-fuck-am-I-not-in-the-slightest-bit-surprised kind of laughter.
This whole thing is a disgusting sham.

This looks very cool... I've recently installed 5 x #NSPanel but I would definitely be looking at these otherwise. https://button.plus/ #HomeAssistant -

I'm using Zigbee2MQTT with #SkyConnect and have had zero issues in the 3 months since I swapped over. #HomeAssistant -
