@vromans @classicalmusic To follow this up, let me recommend another #Czech #composer who has remained in the shadow of his great compatriots: Johann Wenzel #Kalliwoda (the German version of his name). Here is a selection of recordings. All seven of the #symphonies have now been recorded; definitely worth hearing. The Talich’s CD of #StringQuartets 1-3 is wonderful.

& packed with interesting articles. Membership is a snip at £25 pa. I hadn’t heard that Anthony Emery died last summer. As his obituary notes, his important books, incl. The Greater Medieval Houses of England and Wales, 1300-1500 (3 vols) & Seats of Power in Europe during the #HundredYearsWar, were written after early retirement from business. #castles @histodons -

Appreciating the classic portraiture style of Spanish photographer Joan Tous
Barcelona-based photographer Joan Tous is a master in the art of fashion photography. In fact, he graduated from the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia in the early 2000s and soon after followed up with a masters degree in cinematography. You can see a certain rusticity in his work that leans more towards classicism than the pictures you rush-scroll through on Instagram today.
Classicism infiltrates Tous’ fashion work, where tones are muted and the models themselves appear as though they might have stepped out of a Toulouse-Lautrec painting.
For a taste of stylish things to come from this talented lensman, in a world of topsy-turvy weather changes, here’s a story with a nice transeasonal touch.
