A focus on color begins.
This small collection started with a simple idea: taking the colors of the rainbow and letting them move freely across the page.
Created with oil pastels, these swirling marks carry all the texture and energy of the medium:
- the drag of pigment
- the visible strokes
- the layers that refuse to disappear completely.Color has a way of creating its own atmosphere.

I was picking map colors for the big colored fantasy map I am creating for a client and that lead me into doing these mini color studies.
I needed some muted tones and tried to find that balance that cheats the eye. :P
Each study took me only about 5-10 minutes tops.
Some are from my brain and others I had some references to. -
